Ödön von Horváth’s play begins with this scene, depicting a rigid system that drives Elisabeth to suicide. Bonn Park’s continuation Faith Love Robot starts after her death, resurrecting her as a robot in a futuristic lab where scientists search for humanity’s survival. Occasionally, figures from Horváth’s world appear, revealing glimpses of a post-apocalyptic outside. Park’s play explores our relationship with the future: while Elisabeth once acted out of hope for change, today we are paralyzed by fears of war, AI, and climate collapse. Can we imagine a future beyond blind progress or inevitable dystopia? Volktheater Munich goes minimalist with Anna Marboe's Die Nashörner. We were tasked with capturing the spectacle and creating a fitting trailer. In the story the individualist Behringer faces a mass that has perfected its conformity. The more efficiently preconceived opinions spread, the more defiantly Behringer resists the merging crowd, holding his ground: he will remain human—whatever the cost! Anna Marboe drives the means of theater through seductive mainstream machinery, pulling out all the stops of absurdist theater to probe the questions of manipulation and the lure of the group. In a time when everything seems to be falling apart, it is, after all, simply a good feeling to be counted among the good. DON KARLOS von Friedrich Schiller in Regie von Christian Stückl ist seit dem 2. März 2025 am Münchner Volkstheater zu sehen.
