SPACED Entertainment at gamescom

Once again Cologne became the center of the worlds biggest gaming event. Gamescom 2026 brought together millions of fans, creators, developers and industry leaders such as Nintendo, CD Project Red, Xbox, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Ubisoft, Team17, Astragon and many more presenting their latest projects! The exhibition halls were filled with new experiences, major announcements and countless moments shared between players and creators.

Together with Nintendo.de, Germany's division of one of the most established and trusted gaming media brands in the world, SPACED Entertainment was on site to capture the energy, stories and emotions of this unique event at the Nintendo-booth and beyond.

Nintendo showcases Orbitals for Switch 2

As part of this years Gamescom, we also covered the launch of Orbitals for Switch 2 with the developers Markos Ramos (Creative Director) and Jakob Lundgren (Game Director) from Shapefarm Tokyo. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in the Mitaka district of Japans capital, the studio now runs an international team of industry professionals. As Markos and Jakob explain, Shapefarm brought together their childhood love for anime and coop-gaming experiences to pass it on to gamers worldwide. In their own words Orbitals is best described as a 2-player adventure in a retro anime universe. The game was developed as an exclusive for Switch 2 because of the game-share feature making it perfect for the intended couch-coop experience. This makes it possible to play together with family or friends, even if only one of the players owns the game. Drawing inspiration from Sailor Moon and Dargonball they wanted to make their own anime series packed into an interactive gaming experience that relies heavily on communication playing 2 main characters. It was made with so much love for detail that people on the internets apparently started wondering if there actually was a series from the 80s behind the game. Like in any game made with heart there is also an easteregg hidden inside the adventure, that so far nobody has discovered yet. They already have a large active following on their socials where they dive into fan questions about the production processes and the game characters leading up to the release.

Where publishers meet a worldwide community of gamers

Gamescom is more than a showcase for upcoming releases. It is where the entire gaming ecosystem comes together, from global publishers and hardware manufacturers to independent developers and the passionate communities that surround them.

Beyond the games themselves, the event celebrated the creativity of the community, from spectacular stage productions and fan experiences to the impressive cosplay contest, where visitors transformed their favourite characters into reality.

Full-service gaming focused videoproduction for Nintendo

For Gamescom 2026, SPACED Entertainment delivered a complete production service, providing on-site filming and content capture through to the finished footage for Nintendo's channels.

Our production team worked directly from the show floor, using a RED Komodo cinema camera system to capture the scale, atmosphere and fast-moving energy of gamescom in a cinematic social first format. Large-scale gaming events are defined by their details: the first reaction to an unexpected reveal, the excitement of a hands-on demo, the creativity of a cosplay performance or thousands of fans sharing the same passion in one place.

Our goal was to transform these moments into engaging content that brings the gamescom experience beyond the exhibition halls. Working closely with Nintendo’s editorial team, SPACED Entertainment combined production expertise, cinematic visuals and fast-paced storytelling to create coverage that connects with gaming audiences across digital platforms.

We are proud to have been part of gamescom 2026 and to help bring one of the biggest moments in gaming culture to audiences worldwide. More content will be added to this article as soon as the embargo lapses. Credits: Client: Nintendo.de Cinematic Lead, Editing: Spaced Entertainment - Hoang Dang Vu
